There is a difference with D. A. Burns carpet binding. We use heavyweight binding materials that will far outlast the lightweight mesh commonly used by economy binding companies. For carpet placed in high traffic areas or exposed to sunlight or moisture, we offer durable Sunbrella outdoor fabric for your carpet edge finish.
You provide us with your carpet and we’ll provide you with a variety of carpet binding options.

There are several options to choose from when determining the look of your finished carpet edge binding
Cotton carpet machine-sewn edge binding (dozens of colors in stock; ⅜” finished edge exposure)
Wide cotton carpet machine-sewn edge binding (21-colors in stock with more available; up to 2” finished edge exposure; lap or mitered corners)
Special order carpet edge binding (cotton, wool, linen, leather, micro-fiber, etc.; up to 6” finished edge exposure; lap or mitered corners)
Sunbrella acrylic carpet machine-sewn edge binding - suitable for outdoor use, fade and moisture resistant (8-colors in stock with more available; ⅜” finished edge exposure)
Special order Sunbrella acrylic carpet edge binding (up to 6” finished edge exposure; lap or mitered corners)
We also provide hand-sewn carpet edge binding, typically requested when an inconspicuous, narrow finished edge exposure is desired. Irregular carpet shapes often require hand-sewn binding.
Our Carpet Edge Binding Options
Carpet border edge binding is performed to enhance your carpet’s appearance and to prevent the edges from unraveling or becoming frayed. Our machine-sewn carpet binding is a heavy-weight, colored cotton tape folded over the edge of the carpet and stitched with a binding machine similar to a commercial sewing machine. The binding color selected is generally matched closely to the field color of the carpet so the finished carpet edge is less conspicuous, but offers a tailored look.
